PARENTS & CAREGIVERS

Orenda's therapist encourages you to challenge your thoughts and ideas about yourself and your abilities as a parent or partner in order to learn how to find balance in today's modern world of raising happy and healthy little humans.

 Services

Being a parent in today's modern society is one of the most overwhelming and undervalued jobs we can hold as an adult.  Orenda has spent years helping parents, caregivers, educators, and couples navigate the ups, down, and arounds of raising and caring for these tiny and not so tiny humans. Common issues I support are:

  • Adjusting to major life changes

  • Grief and loss

  • Navigating divorce or parental separation

  • Neurodivergent families

  • Supporting kiddos with anxiety or sensory processing differences

  • The Family/Career balancing act

EXAMPLES OF TREATMENT MODALITIES I COMMONLY USE

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an action-oriented intervention that focuses on helping clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions. Instead the client works to accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations and learns to move forward in their life with a better understanding of these feelings and the impact they have on those they care most about.

SPACE

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions focuses on teaching parents how best to respond to their child's anxious behaviors by learning to calmly accept certain levels of the child's distress, while avoiding reactions that exacerbate symptoms. Through this kind of treatment, parents can develop the tools to effectively address the worry and reduce the need to use their own accommodating behaviors.

PD

Positive Discipline is a parenting and classroom management model that focuses on teaching children valuable life skills and social responsibility while helping them feel a sense of significance. It's based on the idea that all behaviors stem from a basic human need to belong.
